I’m really happy with the hardware I purchased, including the Square Register Till and the receipt machine. I especially appreciate that there are no monthly fees, which is ideal for our pop-up bar.
However, I’m disappointed that the stock control report in the free retail plan doesn’t allow me to enter the cost price, which means I can’t automatically generate reports on profit margins. I consider this a fundamental feature for any stock management program. To access this feature, I’d have to upgrade to Retail Premium, but unfortunately, that’s not financially feasible for us.
Square has transformed the way we do business. With a Square terminal always ready and able to accept card, phone, and even watch payments, we’ve overcome a major barrier between us and our customers. We can take payments over the phone, easily categorize transactions, and set up icons for those categories to assist our disabled staff—Square has made everything so simple.
The features are really great, but the platform doesn’t work well on Microsoft Edge, which I think should be fixed. I often have to refresh multiple times to get the virtual terminal to work, which is frustrating, especially when I have a hotel guest waiting on the phone to pay for a booking. However, once it finally loads, it works perfectly.
